Do you want to have the legal right to grow your own cannabis? Yes? Welcome to this web site!

Right To Grow is a UK campaign with a single-focus campaign call for the individual's right to grow cannabis plants

Why this Campaign?

I started this campaign as a viable alternative to the current popular campaigns to corporatise the cannabis plant, campaigns which, if successful, would enrich as-yet unknown corporate giants with fabulous wealth and forever marginalise the humble home-growing cannabis user. That is not the way that I would wish or envisage to have cannabis use legalised. I have no intention of campaigning on behalf of future mega-corporations.

Some people would say that we have to look at the situation realistically and that the corporatisation of cannabis will be a future fact of reality and that we need to get used to it. Well, that may well be true, if it were to happen, but the odds are not really looking good - even if the enthusiasm of campaigners for said corporatisation seem to think so - and while we still have the time to campaign for the right to grow our own cannabis, I believe that we need to make ourselves heard - and campaign on this single-issue campaign platform - THE RIGHT TO GROW.

The corporatisation of cannabis is already proving to be THE major hurdle to herbal cannabis users in the UK. Over the past ten years or so, the UK government's political manoeuvring in order to accommodate GW Pharm has been astounding, to say the least. I have been so very concerned about the possibility for the legal future of herbal cannabis use that I wrote (and maintain) an article called "Sativex: The Trojan Horse to Permanent Cannabis Prohibition." This new campaign "Right To Grow" is the reasoned, yet inevitable, outcome of my concerns, in regards to the continual threat that Sativex poses, not only to the UK cannabis community, but to the worldwide cannabis community in general.

Most cannabis campaign groups are campaigning to change society's general attitude towards cannabis and to get the UK government on board with a tax and regulate system along with many other commercial ideas - none of which have yet succeeded. The effort and work involved in this tax and regulate campaign is so great that the "right to grow" one's own cannabis has virtually been put on the back-boiler. But please be assured that the government has not forgotten about it. They know that they are hypocrites in keeping cannabis use illegal, while licensing GW Pharm to have a huge grow-op.

Truth of the matter is that UK SOCIETY HAS SHOWN ITSELF THAT IT DOES NOT WANT TO BE CHANGED

The UK gov has done a brilliant number in scaring people into not wanting cannabis in UK society

Pick up a newspaper and read the continuous drivel of cannabis prohibitionists - 24/24

And read all the stories from people whose young family members have died as a result of hard drugs -
because these people have been conditioned to believe that cannabis is the monster gateway drug to hard drug addiction

Furthermore, the majority of cannabis users in the UK are not campaigning for legalisation. I personally know at least 50 people who are long-time users of cannabis and they don't give a damn. Many cannabis growers don't give a damn, either. After having discussed with several people, the same answers tend to come up:

"I'm not putting my hand up by joining a campaign to get busted - I don't care whether it's legal or not and I don't care what the government says, I will grow my own plants anyway. The only two reasons why people get caught is because a) they talk about their grow-op and b) they have an inadequate ventilation system installed."

What about HEMP someone asks? Yes, well what about hemp? If hemp is ever legalised in the UK, it will surely be so on a huge commercial level that is approved and licensed by the government to a few selected commercial companies. I believe that this is wrong - and that all farmers should be allowed to grow hemp.

"Right to Grow" is not involved in campaigning for future company profits via the corporatisation of hemp and cannabis. This campaign is not about campaigning for government licenses that allow more corporations the possible future right to grow hemp and cannabis for commercial gain - something that is already happening with GW Pharm, on a government approved monopoly level.

"Right to Grow" is campaigning for winning the long-overdue legal right for individuals to grow their own cannabis plants

Please come and bring yourself, your time and your talents into this campaign and let's move this forward!

Thank you for reading and Best Wishes with all of your campaign efforts for the right to grow!

The UK does not have Citizens Initiatives. UK gov is hard and intransigent. We need to speak out louder for the right to grow - a right that is being compromised and eroded by campaigners for the benefit of big business - and the sad thing about it is that they are not even aware of the detriment it is causing. GW Pharm are already in there on the ground floor for pharm meds at MMJ home growers expense - so why should we campaign to have other big businesses in on the ground floor against ALL users' right to grow in the future? Good question. The time is well overdue to concentrate on campaigning for our own rights - THE RIGHT TO GROW.
